The global organ trafficking network | DW Documentary
On the internet, the offer looks very serious: a start to a new life without dialysis, with a new kidney in just a few weeks. A glimmer of hope for seriously ill people who have been waiting for years for a donor organ. Behind it all is a network of internationally sought-after organ traffickers.
We have been following the trail for months. At the center is a transplant clinic in Eldoret, Kenya, where patients from Germany and Israel in particular meet donors from countries in the Caucasus such as Azerbaijan. There are also young Kenyans who are persuaded that they are getting a good deal at 4,000 euros for a kidney. Recipients pay up to €200,000 ($222,000 USD) to organ traffickers. There are many indications that local authorities are looking the other way and that politicians are covering up the trade.

500 dollars annually I think not monthly
Feeling breathlessness just watching this
thanks for an advertisement!
Kenya is a failed state . Thus its citizens fall victim to these criminal activities unfortunately. Alot of poor uneducated people can be deceived into dangerous things.
I am sure the criminal trafficking group paid money to the Kenyan authority to help them facilitate these crimes.
One wonders if the wave of femicide, often by people the women had met on social media and who left their bodies dismembered, may be connected to organ harvesting..
So a recipient pays USD 200,000 and the donor gets approx USD 2000???? Kenya is just something else 🤦🏾♀️
This wouldn’t be a problem if the donor will receive proper after care, they are fully informed and paid at least 100.000$ for they kidney…as the hospital charges double that.
Investigate Uganda, same must be happening
This is sad situation and shameful for having inhumane leaders and government officials who have knowingly and willfully abused poor citizens and taken advantage of their power. May God have mercy upon the innocent people who have been taken advantage of their poor conditions and thanks to DW station 🚉 for exposing them. And Citizen TV station televising this same situation today too is it a coincidence or are they competing with DW 🤷🏽♂️
For one year's salary… Shows how desperate the sellers are. But then to spend it all on perishables…
Brave reporter!
The guy consented to sell his kidney and he was paid. I don't see any problem. If he wasn't paid then it would have been wrong
Justice for the victims of illegal organ harvesting.
For a fact, that is not organized crime, since selling or paying for a kidney is not a crime. The transaction is voluntary, even if the donors feel cheated afterwards. They helped to save a life, even if that was not their motivation. People make money in medicine all the time. It is a fact of life; a profession; an industry and a admirable way of life. I'm not a doctor. I'm just a caregiver and a very frequent altruistic platelets donor. If someone needs my kidney, I'm willing to donate that too. I don't make any money for that, but i do know that one of the hospitals where I've donated charges the recipient almost $2000 dollars for my platelets. The extraction equipment and the overhead has to be paid for.
So… What I see in this documentary is ignorant young people making a bad decision for a quick buck and later regretting their life choices. But instead, they should be very proud of themselves for giving someone else a chance to live. If they understand that, if they feel the heroism of that deed, maybe they'll regain the moral strength needed to get up and live a happy life. They surely deserve it.
Its corruptions
Its must be included as crimes against humanity of illegal organ harvesting and transplanting ,using tricks to innocent ,uneducated people.
Kasongo must go
Organ trafficking in a 3rd world shthole… For this wastes the Goverment of germany tax payer money.
There needs to be justice ⚖️🙏🏿 for the victims
Your report makes it difficult to trust its authenticity. We see errors in your documentary. One of them is the incorrect map of Somalia.
Its must be included as crimes against humanity of illegal organ harvesting and transplanting ,using tricks to innocent ,uneducated people.
Where’s UN/ ICC???
This world seems to be cursed by greed
Shakahola plus Mediheal..if u rem,Mishra barres the media from showcasing the link btwn his establishment and the massacre.
Thanks so much DW tv
This is a crime against humanity😮😮😮
Why rich people need to buy organs ??!?using poor / vulnerable people just for them to be alive???
May we have a world full of happiness! We say no to all such illegal trafficking! May God save us all!
Do not sell your kidneys.
Who would want a monkey kidney 😂
Was he seen in Hollywood before?
Out of all the horrible things in the world, I don't know why the subject of stealing organs freaks me out so much. I think it's from watching the first Robocop where he gets gunned down while they are laughing when I was 8. Then he wakes up without his body.
It’s heartbreaking 💔 stories . Justice must serve!
Good money.
Wakenya.
We are represented! In all the wrong things.
Und jetzt wehe es fragt mich noch einer, ob ich freiwillig Organspender werden will 😂gehirnwäsche – ciao
