Top Destination in the Caribbean named for 2025 Travel Awards

Visitors to The Bahamas have a new reason to expect a memorable vacation. In addition to providing a classic escape from cold weather through sparkling beaches and shimmering ocean waves, the Caribbean Travel Awards have named this island nation its 2025 Destination of the Year.

These awards have honored top-performing Caribbean tourist destinations across 36 categories for eleven years. From local chefs, resorts, and attractions to cities themselves, award recipients provide an excellent starting point for planning a memorable trip to the Caribbean. 

With an abundance of all-inclusive resorts, miles of unique beaches, and other scenic attractions, The Bahamas have held a place as a go-to place to relax, unwind, and spend a few days or weeks away from the cold and snow during the winter months for decades. 

Nassau and Paradise Island continue to attract a large percentage of visitors to The Bahamas, but much of the rest of the country has also seen significant tourism growth during 2023 and 2024. The 2023 winter travel season saw record-shattering tourism across The Bahamas as nearly all remaining pandemic-era travel restrictions were eliminated, and 2024 also brought strong numbers. Following recognition from the Caribbean Travel Awards, the Nassau area and the rest of the country are also anticipating success during the upcoming winter season. 

While The Bahamas are making headlines as a top tourist destination during the upcoming winter travel season, it is important to keep in mind that even the best places to explore come with quirks and other potential concerns that make vigilance an important part of any safe vacation. Like many Caribbean and Central American countries, the United States has issued a travel warning for visitors to the archipelago. Citing concerns surrounding a general increase in crime throughout The Bahamas, the United States Embassy in Nassau reminds visitors to remain aware of their surroundings and stay alert for potential signs of criminal activity, although no specific new threat exists.
