Why are The Stranglers playing a Kinks song, second number?
Who ate this lot – the so called stranglers have not compised a decent tune since hugh cornwell left : he was their only creative genius. 😮
thought it was going to be some sort of AI-generated documentary but this is in fact a live concert video from the paul era. sigh. stick with the golden era that is the first 6 albums. someone needs to make a comprehensive documentary about them eventually.
Only Joy Division and AC/DC could pull off carrying on after their original singers were no longer around…….goodbye Stranglers…….
To all the haters: It’s a bands personal decision to carry on when one or more members leave or die. Lynyrd Skynyrd is still touring with not a single original member. New Model Army is still touring and making new music after 40 years having had multiple musicians, only one remaining from the beginning. ZZ Top still touring with new bass player. Pink Floyd anyone? And the list goes on and on. Bands might continue for musical reasons or ideological reasons or financial reasons, but whatever the reason it’s THEIR decision. You don’t have to like it, or the new music that these bands might produce, and that’s YOUR decision. I’m coming at this both as a Stranglers fan from 1977 and a musician with many years experience. If you dont like something, that’s fine, you’re justified in your opinion. Just don’t forget, these people work bloody hard at what they do so at least grant them respect for that. To finish, as I mentioned I have been a Stranglers fan since 1977, I’m now 59. There are periods I love, periods I’m not so keen on and some stuff that is just dreadful. But… most bands evolve and fans should too.
